Église Saint-Urcisse

Rue Saint-Urcisse
46000 Cahors
This parish church of the district of Badernes, of very old foundation, takes its name from a bishop of Cahors of the sixth century. Its construction is the fruit of several epochs spreading between the XIIth and the XIXth century. The Romanesque portal with billets, of which one can guess the presence on the southern wall, was probably abandoned at the beginning of the 14th century in favor of the large portal open to the west wall. The latter, bordered by niches with statues and a frieze of rather rough foliage, presents a medieval statue of Virgin and Child, partly reworked.
