Cahors, Town of Art and History

In 2005, Cahors was awarded the label Villes et Pays d'Art et d'Histoire (cities of art & history) by the Ministry of Culture. This network of 166 communities spread around France and overseas, exists to support a heritage policy with a quality framework aimed at three sectors of the public: young people (in school time or on holiday), local people and tourists. The Ministry of Culture guarantees the competence of the professional participants involved in sharing information about the architecture and heritage of these cities as well as qualified tour guides.

All Towns of art and history have thematic tours, lectures, workshops and exhibitions going on all year round.
